This month’s quiz has a Winter Olympics flavour.

On the attached board, there 15 ways you can score over 50 points. Can you find at least 3 of these solutions, but on different parts of the board i.e you cannot use the same triple word 3 times with only a minor variation of letters in your word! A few answers are obscure but NONE have a Winter Olympics theme.

Did you spot that the 7 letters made the word ‘OLYMPIC’ ?

Did you spot that it would play on row 2 making OE ?

Unfortunately, ’OLYMPIC’ is not a word, it can only be spelt with a capital ‘O’ !

The word OLYMPICS is a valid word, as this can start with a small ‘O’ , but there are no spare esses on this board!

All the 50 point moves involve triple word scores.

Middle row, left hand triple – MOPeY 58 points

Middle row, left hand triple – POLeY 52 points

Middle row, left hand triple – PLOYeD 51 points

Middle row, right hand triple – IMPLY 58 points

Middle row, right hand triple – aMPLY 55 points

Middle row, right hand triple – MOPY 55 points

Middle row, right hand triple – iMPLY 55 points

Middle row, right hand triple – IMPlY 55 points

Middle row, right hand triple – MoPY 52 points

Middle row, right hand triple – PuMY 52 points

Bottom row, left hand triple – DaMPLY 52 points

Bottom row, left hand triple – DOPILY 50 points

Bottom row middle triple – sIMPLY 59 points – highest score possible

Bottom row middle triple – MOPsY 53 points

Bottom row middle triple – LIMPsY 50 points

For information the highest score with the triple on the top row is 46 with POsY or MIrY.

Kudos to you if you spotted that SKIMPILY was playable, this scored 44 so didn’t quite make the 50 point threshold.

Well done if you found a few of the 50 point moves, and congratulations if you found the highest score of 59, which according to Tina Turner’s song is …  ‘Simply the Best’ !
